The National Western Stock Show just started, and the frigid stock show weather has hit Denver. Honky-tonk crooner Jake Worthington brought his Texas country to heat up The Grizzly Rose on Friday night. Out of LaPorte, TX, Worthing had great success on the 6th season of The Voice (2014), finishing in 2nd place.

Supported by Jake Tuck on guitar, James Pendel on drums, Jase Hale on bass, Adam Goodale on steel guitar, and Doug Moreland on fiddle, Worthington snowed listeners with songs such as Next New Thing and Only One Way to Find Out, with a strong serving from his latest release, When I Write the Song. Those songs included It Ain’t the Whiskey, Hello Sh***y Day, I’m the One, Not Like I Used To, Two First Names, and the title track When I Write the Song. Find the full setlist below.

Brandon Jones Band started the night with songs about Jones’ home in South Dakota and his life, warming the electrified crowd up with a set of original songs that included Dead Man’s Curve, 14 x 80, Party, Into My Arms, Kiss Me All Night, Forever Yours, Picture, Change My Love, and Black Hill Back Roads. Jones also had solid covers of Driving My Life Away, Ol’ Red, and Whole Lotta Love.

Brandon Jones Band had Brandon Jones on vocals and guitar, The Outlaw Kody Koistinen on guitar, Riley Snyder on guitar, Blake Jones on bass, and Isaac Sheets on drums.
