Last night, nearly 2,000 concertgoers had masks on their faces due to the Paramount Theatre Health and Safety Protocols. If these policies were not in place, the attendees surely would have had their faces melted off by Minneapolis-based behemoths, Hairball.
Hairball is more than a just a concert, it’s an experience; an experience of memorable songs of the 80s packed into a two-hour show. For the youngsters, it’s a history lesson. For the more mature members of the crowd, it was a celebration of simpler times when you’d have to wait for the song to play on the radio, where if you missed hitting the record button, you’d have to wait a while longer and try again. Simpler times for sure, and arguably, better music than more recent generations. Hairball embraces the 80s, and no show is ever the same.
Starting off the night at the historical landmark, Hairball fired up the boisterous crowd with songs from KISS. Hairball wanted to shout it, shout it, Shout it out Loud, that they wanted to Rock and Roll All Nite. And they did. Then everybody got up and moved their feet for Detroit Rock City.
Vocalists Joe Dandy, Kris Vox, and Dave Moody rotated the front man, vocal duties while performing all the hits alongside lead-guitarist Happy, HBK on bass, and Billy on drums.
Van Halen was ready to Jump next, playing Hot for Teacher and had the pistons popping for Panama. Ain’t no stopping now.
Def Leppard Pour(ed) some Sugar (on Me), and all I have is a Photograph.
Metal Health from Quiet Riot had the fans banging their heads, along with Cum on Feel the Noize. It got wild, wild, wild. Wild, wild, wild.
Motley Crue, still celebrating Valentine’s Day, with my heart, my heart, Kickstart My Heart and Livewire, too hot to stop.
The wolves were howling at the full moon for Whitesnake’s In the Still of the Night, and going down the only road they’ve ever known in Here I Go Again.
Guns N’ Roses Sweet Child O’ Mine and Welcome to the Jungle were next. Where do we go? Where do we go now?
What do you want to do with your life? I Wanna Rock with Twisted Sister, and We’re Not Gonna Take It.
Queen showed up for Fat Bottomed Girls and Pressure.
Ozzy made his way through Mr. Crowley, No More Tears, and Crazy Train. Crazy, but that’s how it goes.
Hairball finished up the night with AC/DC’s Thunderstruck, Shoot to Thrill and You Shook Me All Night Long. And they did.
So many great bands with so many memorable songs. Yes, it’s true, no show is ever the same. For more than 20 years, Hairball has kept the show rolling. Visit www.hairballonline.com for more information.
