Three voices singing in perfect harmony make up this female country combo, Runaway June, from Nashville, TN. Naomi Cooke, Hannah Mulholland, and Jennifer Wayne got together in 2015 and scored the first Mediabase Top 25 single for a female trio in over a decade with “Lipstick” in 2017, and “Buy My Own Drinks,” 2018 was in the Top 20 quite the accomplishment breaking a 14-year drought in that space for female groups and they received back to back ACM nomination for 2018 and 2019 New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year as well as a CMT Award nomination. Fun fact, Jennifer Wayne is the granddaughter of actor John Wayne, with a nod to cowboys they honored their favorite cowboy singing “Wild West”. Jennifer also competed on CBS’s The Amazing Race twice, however, she missed out on the the million dollar prize by only four seconds! Good thing she can sing! The Grizzly Rose crowd LOVED these three artists and sang along every song – not just the covers like “Girls Wanna Have Fun”, “American Girl” and Dwight Yoakam’s “Fast As You”, but to all of their original songs! Jennifer’s sister was in bottle service, it was her birthday – they invited the fans to sing “Happy Birthday” to her as she beamed from ear to ear saying, “that’s my sister”! Their show was filled with great energy, selfies, dancing and even a few laughs when Naomi dropped her microphone on stage!
This wasn’t the first time Runaway June played the Rose, they played in September 2018 with Maddie and Tae and Ty Bates… this won’t be the last time we see them there, make sure you check them out next time they are back in Denver!
