The premise for shows like American Idol are to help artists reach the next level. This year, however, it was winner Maddie Poppe that helped put that show back on map with her incredible range, style, and personality.
The 2018 American Live! Tour featured this season’s Top Seven finalists; Cade Foehner, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Catie Turner, Gabby Barrett, Jurnee, title-holder Maddie Poppe, and Michael J. Woodard with special guest, season 8 American Idol winner, Kris Allen.
Playing to the nearly sold out Paramount Theater in Denver on Monday night, it was a love fest from fans and also from the artists who needed those fans to advance in American Idol’s first year revival on ABC, the show’s 16th season.
Champion Maddie Poppe and runner-up, Caleb Lee Hutchinson continued the love fest as this match-made-in-heaven couple showed great connection, humor, and musical talent on the stage, reminiscent of Johnny & June.
American Idol singers took turns under the spot light and had something for everyone with songs ranging from Bang, Bang to Beauty & The Beast. Poppe dazzled the nearly sold out venue with folk-pop tune Brand New Key, as Caleb Lee Hutchinson impressed the listeners with country classic Don’t Close Your Eyes. Catie Turner excited the fans with her rendition of Havana. Cade Foehner rocked it up with No Good, and Gabby Barrett got the audience on their feet for a sing-a-long of Don’t Stop Believin’. See the partial set list on the slide show. All of the Idol performers seemed to be enjoying themselves and seemed comfortable on stage.
The 2018 American Idol Live! Tour runs through the middle of September. Check americanidollive.com/ for more information.
