“Saskatoon band Close Talker is a band that’s built its stellar new single, “Afterthought,” around giving you space. It’s expansive. And as a result, it’s an invitation to lean right in… the song’s arrangement soars without being in your face. And even though production is slick, the scratches and squeaks of fingers on guitars make sure not an ounce of homegrown feel is lost along the way…” – NPR
….”[Okay Hollywood] is a promising first taste” – Noisey
“Close Talker pair their rigid yet sanguine melodies with achingly euphoric lyricism” – Spin
“Simply good at what they do: Straight forward catchiness, finely tuned and delivered cleanly” –Consequence of Sound
Canadian indie rock trio, Close Talker is thrilled to announce their new studio album, Lens, to be released on April 21st via Nevado Music. Today, the trio has unveiled their new single, “Okay Hollywood.”
Lens is a 10-track collection that showcases the band’s maturity and poise, while entering new realms of pop sensibility. Produced by Matt Peters (Royal Canoe, Waking Eyes) and mixed by Marcus Paquin (The National, Arcade Fire, Local Natives), Lens unleashes musical talent and precision without?sacrificing the raw energy, homegrown feel, and vulnerability of the band’s acclaimed live show.
Last year, the band released the first single from Lens called “Afterthought” and it received high praise from NPR.
Close Talker are Will Quiring (vocals/guitar), Matthew Kopperud (Guitar/Keyboard), and Christopher Morien (drums). In just a few short years, Close Talker has released two full-length albums and toured relentlessly across North America, Europe, and the UK, and received international attention from revered and critically acclaimed blogs and publications. Now, with the release of their third album, Lens has lead the band to new depths of creativity while still trusting instincts and simplicity. For Close Talker, Lens marks a new chapter: creating music more authentic than ever before.
