The Kent Burnside Blues Band
Thursday, November 9th – 6:30 PM & 9:00 PM
Kent first heard the blues while watching his grandfather R.L. Burnside perform on the family farm to the locals. Kent used to sell sandwiches to audience members for a dollar a piece during these performances. The first lesson RL taught Kent was that to be a bluesman you have to find your own rhythm on Dazzlethe guitar. You can’t play someone else’s rhythm – as rhythm comes from your heart.
Ronnie Foster
Tuesday November 14th – 7:00 PM
Wednesday November 15th – 6:30 PM & 9:00 PM
The 2022 return of Ronnie Foster to Blue Note Records is an event of synergistic quintessence, completeness, and cool. The organ great’s dynamic new album, Reboot, arrives upon the 50th anniversary of his 1972 Blue Note debut. Classified as Acid jazz (also known as club jazz, psychedelic jazz, or groove jazz) this music genre combines elements of funk, soul, and hip-hop, as well as jazz and disco.
On & On: José James Sings Badu
Friday, November 17th – 6:30 PM & 9:00 PM
When José James released No Beginning No End 2 (2020), a collaborative effort that paired the forward-looking vocalist with a global all-star cast including Ledisi, Aloe Blacc and Laura Mvula, it was apparent that the genre-defying artist was back to stake his claim as the jazz singer for the hip-hop generation. In that light his new project, On & On: José James Sings Badu finds James throwing down the gauntlet on the past 100 years of jazz singing while charting a path forward for the culture.
Harold López-Nussa Timbala a la Americana feat. Grégoire Maret
Saturday, November 18th – 6:30 PM & 9:00 PM
Cuban-born pianist and composer HAROLD LÓPEZ-NUSSA begins an exciting new chapter of his fascinating career with his Blue Note debut Timba a la Americana, a vibrant album
teeming with joy and pathos that was inspired by the pianist’s recent decision to leave his Cuban homeland and begin a new life in France. Produced by Snarky Puppy bandleader Michael League, Timba a la Americana unveils a brand-new sound across 10 dynamic original compositions performed by a tight-knit band featuring harmonica virtuoso Grégoire Maret, Luques Curtis on bass, Bárbaro “Machito” Crespo on congas, and Harold’s brother Ruy Adrián López-Nussa on drums.
La Dame Blanche
Thursday, March 9 – 6:30PM
With her explosive mix of hip hop, cumbia, dancehall and reggae, the Cuban singer, flautist and percussionist Yaite Ramos Rodriguez, aka La Dame Blanche delivers a powerful
and compelling sound that summons the spirits. The smoke of an inaugural cigar prior to setting foot on set, a glass of rum left backstage, necklaces, white flowers, a pristine turban: for her appearances on stage, La Dame Blanche feeds the energy of the spirits of Santeria, her Afro-Cuban religion. In real life, away from the limelight, this singer, flautist and percussionist is Yaite Ramos Rodriguez.
