Grammy Award-winning Brandi Carlile opened night two of her three-night Red Rocks residency with an emotional rendition of “Returning to Myself,” the title track from her most recent album. Against a starry Colorado sky, the performance immediately set the tone for a night filled with incredible her vocal range.
Carlile stepped onto the stage in a striking red jacket, revealing that she had been saving it specifically for Saturday night of the three-night run. She had promised that each night of the residency would offer audiences a unique experience—and she delivered generously on that promise.
The evening’s most unexpected and electrifying moment happened when delicate piano notes emerged from the stage as a voice rose from the shadows during the opening of “Uninvited.” Bathed in moody light, Alanis Morissette joined Carlile for a breathtaking duet, transforming the iconic song into a moment that felt both intimate and monumental.
The fan reaction was a wave of awe and unbridled joy as fans realized they were witnessing two powerhouse voices sharing the Red Rocks stage. It felt like a pinnacle concert moment.
The timing made the moment even more significant. Carlile’s live rendition of “Uninvited,” recorded at Newport Folk Festival, was officially released on September 10, just two days before the Red Rocks performance. “Uninvited” was originally released by Alanis Morissette in 1998 for the City of Angels movie soundtrack.
Early in the night, Carlile invited Stephen Wilson Jr. to the stage for a moving rendition of Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me.” Their voices blended with an easy warmth, turning the timeless classic into an intimate exchange between two artists who honored the emotional depth of the song.
The connection between Carlile and the audience continued throughout the evening. Three fan requests—“What Can I Say,” “Dying Day” and “Mama Werewolf” made their way into the set making the concert feel deeply personal for fans.

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is an enchanting location with its stage set between two red sandstone monoliths which create an acoustically ideal natural amphitheater. Creation Rock stretches on the north side of the stage and Ship Rock is on the south. Carlile made the enormous space feel intimate. Her vocals rose in the canyon and everyone attending left with a memorable human experience.
Carlile is a creative force and has received eleven Grammy Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, an Academy Award nomination and was named one of Time’s Women of the Year in 2026.
