Frail Talk is a soft, indie folk band that sprouted from the ground in early 2020 in Northern Colorado. I had heard of this band in passing from time to time, but hadn’t dived into them until recently. And luckily, I had the opportunity to photograph them on January 31st for Chamber Songs at The Neighbor in Fort Collins, alongside Co-Stanza, Eva Rose King, and Grammy award winner Grace Weber.

Frail Talk was also accompanied by a quintet for this set, and played their new songs of their new album as a treat for a sold-out show. They brought a softness to the space that could only be compared to the warmth of Spring and flowers blooming in the meadows, enhanced by the sounds of the strings and the warm lighting.

Due to the nature of this show, their set was a short and sweet four songs. However, their whimsical sound and lovely nature was just enough to heal the soul and bring out the pure innocence of your inner child, while also making you want to stay in their space forever. While my personal favorite song is Silly Boy off of New Creation Myths, their album Microspirit and their singles off Dog Water!!! are both equally as gorgeous, continuing to beautifully combine indie folk with electronic elements that add to the magic of their music.

If you’re a fan of Sufjan Stevens, Julien Baker, Daughter, or other artists along this line, Frail Talk is a band you should add to your lineup. Next time they play in Colorado, make sure you’re there to witness their magic.
