The Grizzly Rose held their New Year’s Eve Bash on Tuesday night. Featuring Denver’s own Rhett Haney, the festive night had a little something for everyone, playing five high-energy sets. Haney had support from Brett Walston on lead guitar and backing vocals, Jennifer D. Scott on fiddles and backing vocals, and Matt Feldman on drums as they powered through their mix of country and rock.

Haney and his band started the show with 1,2 Many and kept the music flowing with songs such as Good Ol’ Boys, Mr. Lonely, and Livin’ on Love. Taking a break from the solid country covers, Haney hit the party crowd with his original tune, That Makes Two of Us, and went right back to classic country sounds with George Strait’s Amarillo By Morning, and tossing in 90s country favorites Dust on the Bottle, Cadillac Cowboy, and Chattahoochee. Haney ended the first set with The Fireman.

The second set had Haney and crew making sure the listeners were in a drinking mood with How Country Feels, Drinkin’ Problem, and I Like It-I Love It. Haney kept the 90s country going with Toby Keith’s Should’ve Been a Cowboy, Who’s Your Daddy, and Little Less Talk. Other songs included Put the Gun Down, Big City, Turn This Truck Around, I Can Still Make Cheyenne, Freight Train, and slid into the 80s with John Cougar’s Hurts So Good.

Haney continued the party with songs such as Drink in My Hand, Must Be the Whiskey, I Had Some Help, When She Comes Home Tonight, Life of Sin, Neon Moon, What Was I Thinking, Boot Scootin’ Boogie, Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off, Fishin’ in the Dark, Copperhead Road, and Devil Went Down to Georgia, as the clock ticked closer to the midnight balloon drop. Haney also hit the partiers with his original songs Acting My Wage and This Ol’ Barstool.

Haney flipped the switch at just the right time for the countdown to the New Year as their fourth set ended just as the new year began. Set five included songs such as There Was This Girl, Guitars and Cadillacs, You Should Probably Leave, All My Exes, Tougher Than the Rest, and Friends in Low Places.

Good music. Good times. Goodbye, 2024.
