The Fight for Air Climb is one of the signature fundraising events of the American Lung Association. The Climbs are held in prominent skyscrapers and other buildings across the country, giving participants the opportunity to join together with friends, family and co-workers as they climb the stairs of the building to the top! The Climb has been taking place for more than a decade and has raised more than $40 million to support the mission of the American Lung Association.

More than 30,000 participants from 63 Climb events across the country came together last year to raise more than $8 million. This year, you can raise money to support research, patient education and advocacy efforts.

Fight for Air Climbs vary in the number of flights and stairs to climb, but each event offers an opportunity for teams and individuals to challenge themselves. Whether you are climbing as a part of a healthy lifestyle, to beat your previous time or in honor of all those who are affected by lung disease, you will achieve a sense of personal accomplishment as you reach the top of the building and the height of your fundraising potential. Every step you take moves us forward in our fight for healthy lungs and clean air.

Take the Stairs on Wednesday 1/11/17!

Wednesday, 1/11/17, is National Take the Stairs Day and it’s a great time to recruit some of your co-workers to join your Fight For Air Climb Team and get your fundraising moving. Do you need a little help getting your friends or families to join you? On January 11th registrants will save 40% of registration fees all day with discount code takethestairs17. Additionally, follow these four steps to bring attention to your Fight For Air Climb participation:

  • Wear a previous years’ Fight For Air Climb shirt during your stair climbing practices and tell any co-workers who’ve done a climb before to do the same.
  • Cover a jar/canister with the Fight For Air Climb logo and place in the cafeteria, lunch room, breakroom, etc. for people to donate cash and extra change.
  • Post flyers or send out messages encouraging staff to only use the stairs on January 11. Use a break/lunch to gather everyone in the stairs and see how many you can climb in 5-10 minutes!
  • Share photos of you and your co-workers taking the stairs on social media using #NationalTaketheStairsDay and make sure to tag @AmericanLungAssociationinCO
