Every good country band plays 90’s Country, or at least they should. There’s nothing truer than those songs from the country heyday.

“Now it’s dark as a dungeon down where I’ve been
And there ain’t no way I’m goin’ back again
I got my best foot forward onto greener grass
‘Cause there ain’t no future living in the past”.

BlackHawk returned to The Grizzly Rose on Friday and played all their 90s hits.  The band had the crowd singing along to Down in Flames, Goodbye Says it All, and Every Once in a While, to start their set. They felt like King(s) of the World as fans tossed a couple of bundles of dollar bills on the stage.

BlackHawk had Henry Paul on vocals, acoustic guitar and mandolin, Dave Robbins on vocals and keys, Randy Threet on bass, Jimmy Dormire on guitar, Jeff Aulich also on guitar, and Michael Grando on drums.

BlackHawk also gave their renditions of Restless Heart songs, Big Dreams in a Small Town and The Bluest Eyes in Texas, written by Van Stephenson and Robbins. BlackHawk finished their set with Postmarked Birmingham and Big Guitar. Find the full setlist in the photos below.

BlackHawk inexplicably left off tunes from their 2022 release, Blue Highway, so if you want to hear newly released music from BlackHawk, click this link.

South Carolina native and Nashville recording artist Carter Lybrand started the night off with his Southern style. Playing a full set of original songs, Lybrand included Against the Grain, She Hates Horse, She Always Wins, How God Feels, Novocain, In My Arms Tonight, Ride, Crushing Cans, I’ll Be Right Here, and It’s Gonna Take Neon.

Lybrand played good country songs about life. Lybrand and his band including Scott Gardner on bass, Brant Canup on guitar, and Robert Hancock on drums, cranked up more tunes such as Creepin’ Up On Me, Time For That, All Your Fault, Two Stepped Out the Door. Check out his video for It’s Gonna Take Neon.
