Sunday was National Ice Cream Day and Globe Hall served up three sweet scoops of tasty confection. Cody Canada & The Departed spread their Red Dirt music across Denver on Sunday night. This Americana Roots-Rock band, based in New Braunfels, Texas, had frontman Cody Canada on guitar, bassist Jeremy Plato, and drummer Eric Hansen on the Globe Hall stage.

Playing through their rich musical history Cody Canada & The Departed hit the mark on songs such as Lonely Girl, and other songs that helped build Canada’s popularity, such as Fighting For, Number, Constantly, Hammer Down, Anywhere But Here, 17, Alabama and Constantly. Canada and his band were having fun with Boys From Oklahoma and gave a nod to Ray Wiley Hubbard with Wanna Rock and Roll. Plato kept the positive vibes going with Find My Love and Soul Agent. Find the full setlist in the photos below.

Cody Canada & The Departed ended their set with a song about a story about getting pulled over in Ohio, 51 Pieces. Check Cody Canada & The Departed (thedepartedmusic.com) for more information.

Kyle Warner from Denver started the night with his guitar and deep voice. He captured the listener’s attention with the first song, Restless. Next up was Let It Burn, and Come On, Baby. The enthusiastic crowd also enjoyed Steve Earle’s Heartbreak, and the story along with the song, What Happened To You. We still don’t know, but it sounded kind of brutal. Warner finished with How It Goes and Love Song. Looks for a new Ep from Warner this fall and follow him on Instagram at @kylewarnermusic.

After Warner finished his set, The Barlow hit the stage running. The Barlow, out of Arvada, are rock and rollers that are spreading Colorado country sounds. The Barlow had Shea Boynton on vocals, guitar, and banjo, Jason Berner on bass, Ben Richter on drums, and Brad Johnson on guitar and vocals.

The Barlow filled the venue with a rugged mix of solid tunes from older releases and brand-new music. Obsessions, Josephine, and Mile Marker Blues all came from their 2022 release New Year, Old Me. Hard Lovin’, Horseshoe Lounge, Fixin’ To Run, Before You Know, and Homesick Gypsy from Horseshoe Lounge released in 2021. From their 2019 release, The Barlow, they played Churchill Downs, and Shut it Down. Find The Barlow on apple music here, The Barlow on Apple Music.

Check out their new single scoop, Dreams for Tomorrow, released last week which they also performed on Sunday.
