The Josh Abbott Band started out in Lubbock, Guns Up, and now tours out of Austin, Horns Down. Spreading their Texas Country, Red Dirt music, the Josh Abbott Band returned to the Grizzly Rose in Denver on Friday night.

Josh Abbott hit the stage and started singing about his life, starting with I’ll Sing About Mine. The lengthy setlist mixed in songs from their current release, The Highway Kind, including the title track The Highway Kind, Where I Wanna Be, Real Damn Good, Settle Me Down, 24-7-365, and The Luckiest, for which he also gave a shout-out to all the Veterans and offered up a free t-shirt with a military ID for Veterans Day, and other popular songs such as My Texas, Wasn’t That Drunk, She’s Like Texas, Taste, and Touch. Frontman Josh Abbott, on guitar and vocals, was supported by Kris Farrow on guitar, Austin Davis on banjo, Adam Hill on fiddle, Cody Banks filling in on drums, Cale Richardson on guitar, David Fralin on keys, and Jimmy Hartman on bass. Starting the night was The Country Music Project which filled the stage with Colorado musicians focused on having a good time. This high-energy band played traditional country covers and popular tunes that included Footloose, Wrong Five O’clock, Heads Carolina, I Saw Her Standing There, Boondocks, Down in Mississippi, Cadillac Cowboy, Brand New Man, Redneck Woman, Man I Feel Like a Woman, Drinking Problem, Living and Living Well, I Like It I Love It, Listen to the Music, and Don’t Stop Believin’. TCMP had Michael Rice on guitar, vocals, and keyboards, Perry Senn on drums, Sheryl Lynn on vocals, John Talbott on steel guitar, and Rich McCourt on vocals and lead guitar.
