NEW SINGLE AND LYRIC VIDEO

“ELTON GLASSES BABY” OUT NOW

“ELTON GLASSES BABY” MARKS THE YOUNGSTOWN, OH-BASED BAND’S FIRST NEW MUSIC RELEASE SINCE THEIR ACCLAIMED ALBUM BUGS

Rising indie artists The Vindys, known for their distinctive fusion of rock, soul, and pop grooves and electrifying live performances, are on their first national tour alongside rock legends Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo on their Funtastic ’24 Tour. To coincide with the tour, the band has released their new single and lyric video, “Elton Glasses Baby.” The infectious song marks the band’s first new music offering since their acclaimed album Bugs. Written by the band’s core members—vocalist/guitarist Jackie Popovec, lead guitarist John Anthony, and rhythm guitarist Rick Deak—”Elton Glasses Baby” radiates an irresistible pop-infused sound that showcases the trio’s musical talent in crafting captivating melodies and well-structured arrangements. The single is available on all digital platforms. Listen here.

The Vindys’ Jackie Popovec states, “Sometimes, The Vindys’ stage attitude reflects our environment. Lately, we have been playing bigger outdoor stages, including festivals and amphitheaters. We’ve noticed how well some of our more pop-leaning songs go over with these crowds, so we decided to go full tilt when writing our latest song, “Elton Glasses Baby.” I was inspired by music festival attire when I wrote this song, envisioning girls wearing flowers in their hair and colorful sunglasses. This is a new production style for us, so we’re excited to release it and see the reaction!”

“Indeed, the song has an arena-ready sound that straddles the line between infectious pop and big-stage rock. We get dramatic vocal flourishes, vibrant guitar fills, and an airy, anthemic sound that is sure to grab the attention of new audiences.”  – Glide Magazine

The band is no stranger to sharing the stage with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, having previously opened for them at concerts in Ohio and Michigan. In a recent interview,

Pat Benatar praised the band: “Oh, they’re so fabulous. They’ve opened for us a few times, sporadically. I love them, and I love (frontwoman Jackie Popovec). She’s amazing. Sometimes, I’m worried about putting her on first. I’m like, — that girl can sing her ass off. But it helps me sing my ass off, so I’m good. But they’re great kids and wonderful. We just said, “We can pick anybody we want — let’s pick them.” We’re happy they’re with us.

The Vindys have extensively toured, performing to capacity crowds across their home state of Ohio, select dates throughout the country, and a successful series of shows along the West Coast. The band has embarked on its first full-scale tour, bringing their dynamic live shows to audiences nationwide.  Click here for the full list of tour dates.

The Youngstown, OH-based band is led by powerhouse singer/songwriter/guitarist

Jackie Popovec. Her vocals seamlessly shift between sultry soul and edgy rock ‘n’ roll intensity. The Canton Repository says, “…uncannily evokes Amy Winehouse on the more retro songs while going full-tilt rock ‘n’ roll on the harder, moodier numbers. “The band’s core line-up includes John Anthony on lead guitar and Rick Deak on rhythm guitar. These classically trained musicians create compelling song arrangements, with Popovec as the primary songwriter. The band members’ diverse experiences and savvy skills contribute to the depth and maturity of their intricate yet relatable music. Adding to the band’s versatile musical palette is the extended band line-up on this tour of Owen Davis on drums, Brendan Burke on bass, and Nathan Anthony on keyboards.

The Vindys have generated excitement across hundreds of venues, headlining shows, key dates, and festivals, including Women Who Rock, WonderStruck Music Festival, Three Rivers Arts Festival, LaurelLive, Winnetka Music Festival, and Summerfest, where they won the first day of the Emerging Artist Series. The Vindys have also shared the stage with such artists as ZZ Top, Heart’s Ann Wilson, Drive by Truckers, Judah & The Lion, and Hunter Hayes.

The Vindys’ sophomore album, Bugs, received critical acclaim. WKSU (NPR) described it as a “10-track rock ‘n’ roll triumph that fuses the group’s vintage jazz aesthetic with a more straightforward blues-rock sound.” Ear to the Ground praised The Vindys as “one of the tightest and most talented acts on the national stage,” calling the album a “magnetic force of sonic mastery.” The Canton Repository highlighted the record as showcasing “a maturing, versatile band whose musical palette encompasses gritty classic rock, vintage jazz, and refined pop.” The album features the title track “Bugs,” whose video was screened at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival alongside videos from Lizzo and The Black Keys. The anthemic track “Are You Ready” was prominently featured in campaigns for several sports franchises and ESPN commercials for the 2023 ACC Softball Tournaments.
