Next month, Dallas-based Chicano artist Slow Joy will hit the road supporting Mom JeansSummer Salt, and Hunny in Texas in as well as playing his own headline shows in Colorado. These shows are Slow Joy’s first live performances of 2024 and arrive ahead of new music, with more details to be announced very soon.

Slow Joy is the solo project of Esteban Flores. Mixing elements of grunge, emo, and shoegaze, Slow Joy’s deeply personal and melancholic lyrics are underscored by gritty, powerful guitars.

The project began after a therapist encouraged Flores to use music as a tool to process the grief he was struggling with after his mother died. Returning to the alternative sound that marked his adolescence, the multi-instrumentalist began writing and performing under the moniker Slow Joy in 2020.

Slow Joy’s early singles “Crawling” and “Soft Slam” caught the attention of listeners in 2022, with videos using these tracks accumulating millions of views on TikTok. Following up on that success, Slow Joy released his Wildflower EP and embarked on his first nationwide tour, with headline dates and support shows for Emery and Teenage Wrist. His latest track “I Don’t Hate You” (watch the music video HERE) is out now and is a hint at the sonic direction Slow Joy will take with his new work.
