Proving yet again to be one of Denver’s best venues, Red Rocks Amphitheater experienced another sold-out show Wednesday night as fans literally had the lines backed up to simply get into the parking lots let alone the front gates. On our way up to the venue it was amazing to see the diversity within the fan base ranging from all ages and demographics. Which I for one, absolutely love, as this is usually a clear indicator that we’re in for a great night!

The opening act was a talented individual with the voice of an angle that has this crazy ability to reach your soul when he sings and goes by the name “Talk”. Having prior experience as a bassist in a country band, Nicholas Durocher made a name for himself early 2020 as the pandemic rolled around. Of course, timing was not on his side as the world seemed like it was falling apart nonetheless, Durocher took this time to regather his believes and focus on what brought him true happiest. In result he produced “Run Away to Mars” which fans absently devoured, boosting it up to hit the #1 slot on the Adult Alternative Charts. Sadly dude to the the insane amount of people using the lines, we weren’t able to secure any photos of their act but hope you enjoy the video to “Run Away to Mars” down below.

Next on the bill was one of Colorado’s favorites, coming all the way from Germany “Milky Chance”. Fan’s feeling blessed as they came to one show to see a total of three different headliners, they contained to chant from one band to the next. Milky Chance officially crossed over 1-Billion streams on Spotify mid-this year, lifting the dynamic due Clemens Rehbein and Philipp Dausch joined by their band mates Antonio Greger (guitar) and Sebastian “Capatin” Schmidt (drums) to another level of gratitude as they performed in front of a sold-out venue. Characterized by their unique fusion of genres, catchy hooks, and Rehbein’s soulful vocals, the duo’s music often incorporates acoustic guitar melodies, electronic beats, and a mix of folk and pop influences, that create a laid-back and infectious sound. Their debut album, “Sadnecessary”, was released in 2013 and gained them international recognition with their debut single “Stolen Dance”. Since then they’ve grown within their craft, and expanded on their sound into tracks they played such as “Living in a Haze”, Tainted Love” and “Colorado”. Touring alongside “YTG” for the past three months they ended their set dancing around as Rehbein jammed out on the Harmonica thanking everyone coming out since the last time they played the Rocks back in 2015.

After a steady three months on the road, there were only two nights left on the nation wide tour staring Young the Giant. Of course, we’re biased, but where better to end than colorful Colorado! Not many people are aware of this however, YTG originally began playing in California under the name “The Jakes” during their high school days. Focusing on the next chapter in life, they turned the chapter into 2010 with a bang and grouped as “Young the Giant”. Staring as an American Alternative Rock Band, their songs often explore themes of Identity, Self-Discovery, and Relationships that are guided by melodies and vocals from lead singer Sameer Gadhia. Although Gadhia is the front man, each bandmate alongside him shines and takes turns holding the crowd’s attention for one hell of a show. We have Jacob Tilley and Eric Cannata on the guitar, Payam Doostzadeh on the bass, and Francois Comtois on the drums. Since 2010 YTG has enjoyed commercial success, with multiple of their singles charting on the Billboard Hot 100 music charts, and for good reason. Being a musician in today’s world goes beyond just the art of making music… it’s also about how you can connect with your audience. Taking them on a journey though your views and experiences which allows them to see the world through a different perspective. This is what I believe to be the core of a live performance, all the hard work that it’s taken to accomplish your goals and stepping on stage to see a sold-out venue smiling back at you and chanting your name/band’s name. All the gratitude rushed through the performers and at the moment you know we were in for a ride. Young the Giant absolutely killed this past Wednesday night as they broke their set into a four-part act. Hope you enjoy the photos!
