Punk Rock is a bit of an understatement when it comes to A Wilhelm Scream. Originating from New Bedford, Massachusetts, Wilhelm is more like a Melodic Hardcore band with a classic mixture of Punk Rock. They’re world-famous for keeping it real no matter the cost, playing together since the late nineties. Hitting the mid-pointe of their tour they stopped by the famous Bluebird Theater performing with Brendan Kelly and opening act Make War.
Make War is a smaller group made up of three band members, lead vocals Jose Prieto, guitarist Edwin Santa Cruz, and drummer Daniel Prim. Don’t let the size of the band fool you, coming from Brooklyn, NY these three come packing a major punch jamming out to some intense Pop Punk.
Taking a bit of a turn, the following act Brendan Kelly played an all-original solo acoustic set. Being a member of three different bands, Kelly had a variety of tracks to select from, and even with the difference in acoustic sounds, the crowd seemed to know just about everyone.
Having the stage to himself, Kelly took his time and mingled with the fans with his one-of-a-kind comical personality performing a very interactive set. Towards the end of his set, Kelly started to take requests from the crowd playing some fan favorites including “Suffer the children, Come Unto Me” and “Keep Walking’ Pal”.
After a quick stage set-up and a few drinks, the crowd was pumped up for the main act of the night A Wilhelm Scream! I’ve had my fair share of shows to shoot and can honestly say that Punk/Hardcore bands are quite the challenge. The energy they bring to the stage honestly stands out from most other performers. Not only do these guys play insane cords, yet they also bleed their energy into the crowd by jumping and dancing around the stage, which in return gets the crowd doing the exact same thing. Creating mosh pits throughout their entire set… which is exactly what they want.
A Wilhelm Scream stars a total of five members starting with lead vocalist Nuno Pereira, guitarist Mike Supina, guitarist Trevor Reilly, bassist Brian J. Robinson, and drummer Nicholas Angelini. The group basically grew up with each other skating around doing whatever came across their minds, which eventually lead to them forming the band we all know today A Wilhelm Scream.
Staring their set off they focused on their newly released album “Lose Your Delusion” playing songs like “GIMMETHESHAKES”, “Be One To No One”, and “Lose Your Delusion’. Speaking of which, check out their new music of “GIMMETHESHAKES” below.
Prior to them wrapping up the show lead vocals Nuno Pereira took a moment to thank everyone for showing their constant love over these past few crazy years of the pandemic as their careers and fame contained to grow even through these hard times. Realizing that most hateful things are simply lacking love, which they strive to deliver in ten-fold as they hit the road for the remainder of their tour.
