Marco Benenvento is back on the road in September, including a headline performance at Cervantes’ Other Side in Denver, CO on Saturday, September 15. The appearance follows Benevento’s set the day prior at Telluride Blues & Brews Festival on Friday, September 14. Opening the evening will be renowned brass band, The Soul Rebels, from New Orleans.
For more than a decade, Benevento has been amassing an extensive body of work with studio albums and live performances that connect the vast space between LCD Soundsystem and Leon Russell—a union of pulsating dance rock energy with quirky, earthy songwriting to match. It has led to numerous high profile appearances, ranging from Carnegie Hall to Pickathon, Mountain Jam to Treefort Festival, while headlining shows coast to coast.
Benevento’s previous studio LP, The Story of Fred Short, and the companion live release, Woodstock Sessions, mark some of his finest and most adventurous work to date. “Reminiscent of Dr. John’s New Orleans psychedelia and piano chops with a hint of Father John Misty’s general coolness, Marco Benevento brings something very unique to the modern pop world,” wrote The Wild Honey Pie, while the LA Times declared, “Benevento continues to straighten his twisted sound into the guise of an indie-rock singer-songwriter, harnessing his inventive sonic palette into rewardingly bite-size pop songs that touch on disco and soul.”
