Seminal groove band The Greyboy Allstars are comprised by some of the most revered players on the modern music scene—saxophonist Karl Denson, guitarist Elgin Park, keyboardist Robert Walter, bassist Chris Stillwell and drummer Aaron Redfield. Fast approaching their 25th year together, 2018 will be the busiest year in quite some time for the quintet. They have a new studio album in the works and a handful of high profile tour dates on the books, including a performance at The Fillmore in Denver, CO on Saturday, March 17, where they will perform with Galactic.
Watch “The Way You Make Me Feel” (Jam in the Van)
Watch “Still Waiting” (Classic 2007 GBA Video)

Initially formed as the backing band for rare groove luminary DJ Greyboy at the release party for his groundbreaking 1994 album, Freestylin, it quickly became a longterm project with a string of critically acclaimed albums and world tours. Their unique sound, reminiscent of ’60s boogaloo and ’70s funky jazz, was captured on recordings like West Coast BoogalooA Town Called EarthWhat Happened To Television and Inland Emperor. Beloved at the time, they also proved fabled, influencing bands like SouliveGalactic and The New Mastersounds to follow in their footsteps.

The Greyboy Allstars success also served as a platform for the group’s individual members to launch highly successful and substantially diverse solo careers. Organ and synth master Robert Walter leads his own band, the 20th Congress, while also a member of Phish bassist Mike Gordon‘s band. Guitarist/composer Elgin Park (aka Michael Andrews) is among the most in-demand Hollywood composers, scoring films and television shows like ‘Donnie Darko,’ ‘The Big Sick‘ and ‘Bridesmaids.’ Saxophonist Karl Denson fronts his own touring juggernaut Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, but also serves as the tenor saxophonist in The Rolling Stoneshaving replaced Bobby Keys after his passing. Bassist Chris Stillwell and drummer Aaron Redfield are one of the most sought after rhythm sections in any genre with a steady flow of high profile session and touring work.
