Named after Allman’s classic 1973 solo debut, Laid Back Festival was first held in 2015 at Wantagh, NY’s Nikon at Jones Beach Theater and was followed the next year by an expanded itinerary, once again headlined and curated by its legendary co-founder. Laid Back has proven an indisputable success, with New Jersey’s Asbury Park Press declaring it “a crowd-pleasing blend of classic rock along with food and spirits.” The event – which in 2016 saw timeless performances from Allman, ZZ Top, Jason Isbell, Peter Frampton, Blackberry Smoke, and many more – was hailed as a necessary new milestone on the increasingly busy festival schedule. “Laid Back filled a void left by the Allman Brothers Band,” wrote Relix, “who played Jones Beach most summers from their late-career comeback through 2013.”
