Riding high off the release of their hypnotic dance party gem “No Good,” Los Angeles-based electro synth rock band Battle Tapes are gearing up to make an impact with their Form EP, due out on June 9th.
The first offering from the project has been hailed as perfect for “speeding down the highway in a really nice car” [Baeble] and “edgy, thoroughly modern style of electro/dance/pop” [Huffington Post]. Battle Tapes have created a signature style that blends a myriad of influences and allows them to explore different musical landscapes. Which is why when a mutual friend suggested they take a stab at remixing Phantogram’s song “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore,” the guys could not resist. When the re-worked track made it to Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel of Phantogram, they were hyped on what Battle Tapes had come up with.
Battle Tapes is an electronic rock band from Los Angeles formed in 2010 by Josh Boardman (vocals/guitar/synth), Riley Mackin (keyboard/vocalist), Stephen Bannister (bass), and Beak Wing (drums/percussion). Since their inception the band has released two EPs: Sleepwalker (2011) and Sweatshop Boys (2012), followed by their first studio album, Polygon, on November 20th, 2015. Battle Tapes truly began their ascent in 2013, when their song “Feel the Same,” was featured in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V. Since then their songs have been tapped for TV, film, and video games, most notably, they’ve been featured on Girls (HBO), Lucifer (FOX), Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar Games), Now You See Me 2 (Summit), and more.
With a new EP on the horizon, Battle Tapes will be releasing more groundbreaking music and taking their captivating live show on the road soon.
