“Who The f$#* is Betty Who?”… With T-shirts quoting this very Twitter question on display and for sale, Betty Who put on a spectacular show of dance and melodic pop, making it clear who exactly Betty Who is.
By Veronica Lee
With the release of her sophomore album, The Valley, Betty Who is currently on tour and hit Denver’s Bluebird on Sunday night. Her 6’2 frame, pixie blonde haircut, and unrivaled dance moves, Betty Who makes a statment and a lasting impression. Her poignant vocals were spot on, with fun fan favorites like “Some Kind of Wonderful” and “Mama Say” the crowd screamed, cheered, and sang along to every word. The energy from off stage was multiplied by the full band participation of movement as the bass and key players would step out of their position and joined Who and her dancers front and center.
Most memorable of the evening though was when she played her famous cover of Donna Lewis’ “I Love You Always Forever”, a true pop love uptempo dance ballad. Every voice lifted in recognition and excitement, the Bluebird sang with 90’s pride. Instead of asking “Who Is Betty Who” audiences left with the exclamation, “Betty Who ROCKED!” With support from opener VÉRITÉ, this tour is most assuredly one to catch this Spring.
